Sareddy Xiomara Escobar Gonzalez
Drilling Engineer - Husky Energy
My name is Sareddy Escobar. I’m from Caracas, Venezuela. My first language is Spanish. I graduated in 1999 as Information Engineer in the Universidad Technologica del Centro Venezuela.
I have worked in the oilfield for 16 years. I began my career in Eastern Venezuela working for Schlumberger. I have worked onshore and offshore positions around the world in Trinidad, Tobago, USA (Texas & Oklahoma), the Caspian Sea (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan & Turkmenistan), Dubai, and eastern Canada.
After moving to St. John’s in 2008, I worked in roles supporting exploration and development drilling for Husky and other oil companies. I joined Husky fulltime in 2014, and I am now involved in the full scope of well operations. What excites me on a well is working from the planning stage, through execution to handing over to completion and operations; solving issues; challenging operations; investigating new technologies; and sharing knowledge.
In addition to drawing energy from a wide range of experiences in the Drilling and Completions team, I have been involved as a mentor with Women In Science and Engineering, the Society of Petroleum Engineers and with university co-op education students.
I have two great mentors: my boss in Houston, who will always support and mentor me and give advice and, my boss in Turkmenistan who taught me to manage multiple situations and people and to take ownership for my decisions. The most influential people in my life are my parents. They help and support me in every decision of my life, and made me who I am today.
I love to travel and meet people of different cultures. Mostly, I love spending time with my husband and kids, keeping up with them and learning winter activities. I enjoy dancing and writing poetry in Spanish.
