My name is Jillian Butt, a Civil Engineer in Training with Pennecon Heavy Civil. I am originally from Twillingate, NL but currently live in St. John’s. My career with Pennecon is new; I started with them in August 2016. I graduated from Civil Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland in May 2013 and am currently working towards my professional designation in Engineering.
My Career has been very exciting and challenging during school and since graduation. I’ve had the opportunity to work on very large and significant construction projects for this province such as the Hebron Gravity Base Structure, Long Harbour Nickle Processing Plant, Muskrat Falls Project and the Soldier’s Pond Converter Station. During my school term, I also had the opportunity to travel outside the province to Nova Scotia and Manitoba to work on projects.
My current position as Field Engineer allows me to work as part of a team daily. It is a very rewarding career with Pennecon, as we all are working towards the same goal. I love problem solving and learning how to relate construction methods with business. Currently, I am working in a quality role to ensure we deliver the best product we can for our client.
Outside of work I love to travel, cook, and am currently training to run a half marathon in September.
