CEO Announcement

Today we begin a new chapter in the story of WRDC, as we announce the retirement of our long-term CEO Cheri Butt.

For the last decade, Cheri has led our organization through an incredible period of growth and change, while never losing sight of the absolutely critical role WRDC plays in driving forward gender equity in the trades and technology sectors.

“The decision to retire was not an easy one, given my deep commitment to our cause and the community we serve. It also comes with mixed emotions as I reflect on the remarkable journey we have shared,” Cheri says upon the announcement of her retirement. “It has been an honor to do this work, and I am truly amazed at what we have been able to accomplish together. I will always cherish the memories and the successes that we collectively share.”

During her tenure, Cheri has led our team in the creation of new strategic partnerships, development of innovative programs and services, and the growth of a talented and committed team.

We would like to offer our congratulations to Cheri on a successful career and for the significant impact she brought through her leadership at WRDC. We wish her the best in this next chapter of her life. Cheri’s official departure date will be August 3, 2024, but she will join us later this summer to unveil her last major initiative, details of which we will be announcing soon.

To ensure a smooth transition, we are pleased to welcome Acting CEO Michelle Blundon, currently the Director of Career Development at WRDC. Michelle will take over the responsibilities of the CEO during this transitionary time as the Board begins the search for a permanent CEO. We anticipate welcoming a new permanent CEO by early 2025.

We hope you join us in wishing Cheri well in retirement and look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our team.
